Summary: robr8828-lnqiova shared their experience selling items on eBay, where a buyer used the wrong address. To resolve this, they sent the parcel using tracked delivery but faced issues inputting the tracking number due to eBay's system preferences. Attempts to get a refund for an unused label led to frustration with automated systems, and they sought advice on accessing a human agent. john1297576 explained that automatic refunds for unused labels apply only to buyers, highlighting challenges sellers face, particularly with tracking when using their own postage.
I sold items in early August and offered free delivery to my buyer. EBay automatically set this as "simple delivery". After paying for the order, my buyer told me they had the wrong address on their account. Ebay's recommended solution would be to cancel the order, change the address and reorder - not good customer service from my point of view. So, I took the parcel, with the correct address to the post office and paid for tracked 48, The buyer received the items, I got proof of delivery, both parties were happy. I tried to enter the tracking code into the account but EBay didn't allow this as my code was a 2D standard, not 3D as required. As I hadn't used the label I expected an automatic refund from EBay anyway. You've guessed it, this didn't happen. So I eventually found a way through to the AI and just got sent round in circles - computer says "no". MS copilot led me through a solution to break this out to a human, but I couldn't find a way. So, I'm hoping someone on this forum can help me find a way to access a human agent. Regards
Only buyers get automatic refunds for unused labels, sellers have 14 days to cancel to get refund. Sellers are second class citizens, no doibt to discourage sellers from using their own postage.
When you do use your own postage you cannot add tracking, except if buyer opened a not received case when you are able to prove delivery using your tracking.

Thanks for your reply - I have learned that sellers are second class - to my cost. Regards
