Third-party claimed content for a Short that is over one minute Any Short that is over one minute in duration with an active copyright claim of any type, including manual claims, will be blocked globally on YouTube. The video will not be playable or recommended on YouTube, and will not be eligible for monetisation. There will be no penalties to your channel. You may remove the claimed content from your videos . Standard YouTube channels You can use any song available in the Shorts Audio Library. You can use most songs for up to 90 seconds in a three-minute Short. However, some tracks may be limited to 60 or 30 seconds. You may also use royalty-free music from the YouTube Audio Library. The royalty-free music won't receive a copyright claim.

Official Artist Channels Videos uploaded before 8 December 2025 that are square or taller in aspect ratio and are over one minute in length for Official Artist Channels or channels linked to a music content owner will continue to be treated as long-form videos. Videos with the same parameters uploaded on or after 8 December 2025 will be classified as Shorts. Shorts longer than one minute that have an active copyright claim, regardless of the policy, will be blocked on YouTube.
