Yes, all visitors regardless of age are required to have a ticket. Can I purchase tickets in advance? Yes, we recommend purchasing tickets in advance to ensure availability and ease of entry into the Museum. How do I present mobile tickets purchased or reserved online at the door for entry? Visitors receive digital tickets on their mobile device when reserving in advance. Upon arriving at the Museum, visitors can access digital tickets reserved in advance in two ways: Adding tickets to a mobile device’s digital wallet from Upcoming Events and presenting them to staff in the lobby (similar to a digital membership card) Using a mobile device to log in to the account used to make the purchase and displaying the tickets stored under Upcoming Events Members can also provide their member card or order number to a staff member at a ticket desk who can print your tickets. Can I return or exchange tickets if my plans change? See our Ticketing Policies for more information and how to contact us. Can I reserve tickets for a group? Guided and self-guided visits are available for PreK–12 audiences, Access programs, and college groups that are part of the University Members program . Guided tours are not currently available for other adult groups. To reserve your group visit, see Groups . Is the Fenway Entrance open? No, the Fenway Entrance is currently closed. Is there a coat check? Yes, we offer complimentary coat check at the Huntington Avenue Entrance. All bags are subject to inspection. Bags smaller than 11 x 15 inches are welcome. Backpacks must be carried as a handbag or worn on the front side of the body. Bags in excess of 11 x 15 inches containing needed medical equipment, or for use in nursing or baby care, are allowed in the Museum if tagged at arrival. Bag restrictions for Museum events may vary. Please refer to the specific event page for details. Can I visit a gift shop without buying a ticket? The Signature Shop, located at the Huntington Avenue Entrance, can be visited without a ticket. Can I get something to eat? Please visit Dining for more information about the Museum's dining venues. Are all the galleries open? See Gallery Updates for information about closures. Please note, galleries may be closed temporarily without notice. Can we stay in the Museum as long as we like? Your ticket is valid until the Museum closes, but there is no re-entry to special exhibitions. Do you offer guided tours? Please see Galley Tours and Talks for the full schedule of guided tours. For general admission, membership cards admit MFA members daily per the limits of their membership level. For special exhibitions, tickets are required for all visitors (members, nonmembers, children); members cannot gain entry to special exhibitions with their membership card alone. Members have access to free or discounted special exhibition tickets, limited to the benefits of their membership level. We encourage all members to reserve tickets in advance online or by phone. If my plans change, can I exchange or return my special exhibition ticket? Yes. We know sometimes plans change—if yours do, please help more people in our community enjoy the Museum by rebooking, exchanging, or canceling your tickets ahead of time. We hope you come to the Museum as planned, but if you decide not to, other visitors might miss out if you don’t use your timed-entry tickets. Members, if you need to reschedule: To reschedule special exhibition or any paid tickets, contact us in advance of your visit date by calling 1-800-440-6975 to exchange your tickets for another date. Tickets are non-refundable, but can be exchanged prior to the day of your visit. A $4 exchange fee applies. If you do not arrive for a special exhibition, you will forfeit your limited free exhibition ticket(s) and we will not be able to reschedule you for another time slot.
