Global Weather Forecast
Explore upcoming weather conditions worldwide with an interactive forecast map for temperature, wind, precipitation and changing weather patterns.
Move around the map, zoom into a region and use the available forecast controls to explore changing weather conditions.
Forecast overview
Worldwide weather forecast
A weather forecast provides an estimate of how atmospheric conditions are likely to develop over the coming hours and days. Forecast information can include temperature, wind, precipitation, air pressure and other weather variables that help describe expected conditions.
The interactive weather forecast map above provides a visual way to explore changing conditions across different countries and regions. Instead of looking only at a single location, you can move around the map and compare weather patterns over a much wider area.
This can be useful for everyday planning, travel, outdoor activities and situations where changing weather may affect your schedule. The map also makes it easier to see larger weather systems that extend across regional or national boundaries.

How to use the weather forecast map
Start by moving the map to the country or region you want to inspect. You can zoom out for a broad overview or zoom in to examine forecast conditions around a smaller area.
The map is currently configured to display temperature information. Depending on the available controls, you can explore forecast developments and move through different forecast periods.
Choose a location

Forecast models
How weather forecasts are created
Modern weather forecasts are produced using a combination of observations and numerical weather prediction models. These models use mathematical calculations to simulate the atmosphere and estimate how weather conditions may develop.
Forecast systems process large amounts of meteorological data, including temperature, air pressure, humidity, wind and observations from weather stations, satellites and other instruments.
The forecast map on this page uses the ECMWF product selected in the embedded map. Forecast models are updated as new observations become available, which is why weather predictions can change between one forecast run and the next.
Short-range forecasts generally provide more confidence than forecasts far into the future because uncertainty increases as the forecast period becomes longer.
Temperature forecast
Explore forecast temperatures
Temperature is one of the most commonly checked parts of a weather forecast. The map above is configured with a temperature layer, allowing you to quickly compare warmer and colder areas.
A temperature forecast can be useful when planning clothing, travel, outdoor activities or work that is affected by heat or cold. Looking at a larger map also helps show regional temperature differences that may not be obvious from a single local forecast.
For a map focused specifically on current temperature patterns, visit our Temperature page.
Day-to-day temperature changes
Temperatures can change substantially as weather systems move through a region. Wind direction, cloud cover, season, elevation and the movement of warm or cold air masses can all influence expected temperatures.
Because local conditions can vary, a regional forecast map is best used as an overview alongside more detailed local forecasts when precise conditions are important.
Changing conditions
Wind and rain forecasts
Temperature is only one part of a complete weather forecast. Wind and precipitation can have an equally important effect on travel, outdoor activities and day-to-day conditions.
A wind forecast helps show how wind speed and direction may change. Strong winds can affect aviation, marine activities, road travel and outdoor events. For a dedicated view of wind patterns, use our Wind Radar .
Rain and precipitation forecast
Precipitation forecasts estimate where rain, snow or other forms of precipitation may develop. These predictions are particularly useful when planning activities several hours or days ahead.
If you want to see current or very recent precipitation rather than future predictions, visit the Rain Radar or the main Weather Radar .
Forecast or radar?
Weather forecast vs. weather radar
A weather forecast and weather radar answer different questions. A forecast estimates what may happen in the future, while radar is mainly used to observe precipitation that is happening now or has occurred very recently.
Weather Forecast
Useful for planning conditions over the coming hours or days.
Useful for seeing current precipitation and short-term weather developments.
Check the forecast first, then use radar to see how current conditions are actually developing.

Forecast confidence
How accurate is a weather forecast?
Weather forecasting has improved significantly, but no forecast can predict future atmospheric conditions with complete certainty. The atmosphere is complex, and even small differences in starting conditions can affect how a weather system develops.
Forecast accuracy also depends on how far ahead you are looking. Predictions for the near future usually have less uncertainty than forecasts several days in advance.
Local geography can make forecasting more difficult. Mountains, coastlines, valleys and urban areas can all influence temperature, wind and precipitation in ways that may not be represented perfectly on a broad global map.
For important or safety-critical decisions, use forecasts together with official warnings and information from the responsible meteorological authorities in your region.
Why forecasts change
A changing forecast does not necessarily mean that the previous forecast was simply wrong. New observations are continually added to forecast systems, and weather models recalculate how atmospheric conditions are expected to evolve.
As an event approaches, additional data can lead to changes in predicted temperature, precipitation, wind or the exact path of a weather system.
When is a weather forecast useful?
Weather forecasts are useful whenever future conditions could affect your plans. A quick look at the map can provide context before you check more detailed local information.
Check expected conditions along your destination or route before travelling.
Outdoor activities
Plan hiking, cycling, sports and other outdoor activities around expected weather conditions.
Review temperature, rain and wind forecasts when planning outdoor events.
Weather-sensitive businesses can use forecasts as one part of operational planning.
Marine activities
Wind and changing weather systems are important considerations for activities on the water.
Use the forecast to prepare for heat, cold, rain or other changing conditions.

Weather forecast FAQ
The interactive map can be used to explore forecast weather conditions across different regions. The map on this page is initially configured to display temperature information.
Weather models can produce forecasts several days into the future, but uncertainty generally increases the further ahead the forecast extends.
Forecast models are updated as new observations become available. New data can change the predicted development, timing or position of weather systems.
A forecast predicts future conditions, while weather radar primarily shows current or very recent precipitation and weather activity.
Yes. The map on this page is configured with a temperature layer and can be used to compare forecast temperature patterns across different regions.
Forecast models estimate where and when precipitation may develop, but exact timing and location can change. For current precipitation, check the live Rain Radar or Weather Radar.
The embedded map on this page is currently configured with the ECMWF forecast product.
The map is useful for exploring weather forecasts, but official severe weather warnings and emergency information from responsible authorities should always take priority.
