These are the six guides every first-time visitor reads first. In this order. Prague for First-Timers 10 things we wish someone had told us before our first visitors arrived. Read this before anything else. 3-Day Itinerary Airport Transfer Public Transport Most Popular Prague Guides The pages most visitors read first — and for good reason. Airport Transfer Old Town Square Public Transport What kind of Prague trip are you planning? Tell us and we’ll point you to exactly the right guides. Book Your Prague Trip Everything you need in one place — direct links, no middlemen, no inflated prices. We live here. We’re not passing through. Most Prague travel content is written by bloggers who spent four days in the city and left. Petr has lived in Žižkov his entire life. Dan spends half his time walking visitors around neighbourhoods that don’t appear in any guidebook. HelloPrague exists because we kept sending friends the same emails: what to skip, what the tourist information boards won’t tell you, and which “highly rated” restaurants are actually traps for people who don’t know better. 📍 Always specific — never vague Street names, CZK prices, times, seasons. No soft generalisations. 🚫 We name tourist traps directly If something isn’t worth your money or time, we say so — by name. 🔄 Updated for 2026 Prices, opening hours and access rules checked this year — not carried over from 2022. 🎯 No sponsored rankings Hotels and tours appear because they’re good, not because they pay to be listed. Plan Your Prague Trip Every essential topic covered in depth — from landing at the airport to your last evening walk across Charles Bridge. Airport Transfer Taxi, bus, shuttle — what actually makes sense depending on where you’re staying and what time you land. 20 hotels across four budget tiers, with direct booking links and honest notes on location trade-offs. Metro, tram, bus. What to buy, where to validate, and when to just walk. A day-by-day plan that fits everything worth seeing without turning your holiday into a march. Top Attractions What’s genuinely worth your time in 2026, and what you can safely skip to the next visitor. Where locals actually eat. Not the restaurants that appear at the top of TripAdvisor because they paid for it. Top Prague Attractions Our deep guides to each landmark — not just where to go, but what to look for when you get there. The largest ancient castle complex in the world, and the one place in Prague every visitor should see — if they know where to go inside it. Old Town Square Wenceslas Square Prague Itineraries for 2026 Day-by-day plans built around how Prague actually works — not how tourist maps lay it out. One Day in Prague A layover, a long weekend arrival, or a single focused day. Here’s how to see the essential city without rushing past everything. Old Town Square & Astronomical Clock Charles Bridge at the right time Prague Castle (2 hours minimum) Dinner in Malá Strana Three Days in Prague The most common visit length, and enough time to move beyond the obvious into the city that locals actually inhabit. Day 1: Old Town, Jewish Quarter, Castle Day 2: Malá Strana, Petřín, Vyšehrad Day 3: Žižkov, Vinohrady, rooftop bar Five Days: Prague + Day Trips Add Kutná Hora, Český Krumlov or Karlovy Vary to a full Prague base — which to pick depends entirely on what matters to you. Days 1–3: Prague in depth Day 4: Kutná Hora (bone church) or Karlštejn Day 5: Český Krumlov (full day) Best Day Trips from Prague in 2026 All under two hours from the city. Each one worth doing for completely different reasons. A medieval silver-mining city with a gothic cathedral that competes with anything in Prague — and a bone church that has to be seen to be believed. This is not a gimmick. A UNESCO old town wrapped in a river bend, with a castle complex that took us an entire afternoon to walk properly. Worth the longer travel time. Elegant 19th-century colonnades, thermal springs you can actually drink from (use a spa cup), and the Becherovka factory. Strange and worth it. Karlštejn Castle Emperor Charles IV’s Gothic fortress built to protect the crown jewels, sitting on a wooded hill above a pretty village. The closest castle to Prague that’s genuinely impressive. Best Hotels in Prague 2026 Picked for location, value and the honest answer to “is this actually worth the price?” Fairmont Golden Prague Art Nouveau landmark · Jewish Quarter · Vltava views Grand Hotel Praha Directly on Old Town Square · Astronomical Clock views Hotel Josef Landmark minimalist design · Old Town Hotel Paris Prague Art Nouveau masterpiece near Old Town Square BoHo Prague Hotel Best design hotel at this price · New Town · top-rated Grandior Hotel Prague Excellent value · near Old Town · large rooms Mosaic House Best design hostel in Prague · New Town · excellent value Sir Toby’s, Czech Inn & more → Full hostels guide with 8 options reviewed honestly Best Prague Tours in 2026 Petr and Dan’s personal picks from the hundreds of tours available. These are the ones that actually add something. Old Town Hall Tower & Astronomical Clock Skip-the-line entry to the tower with the city’s best view of the Old Town Square below. Book in advance — the queue without a ticket in summer is serious. Prague Historic Pubs Walking Tour with Drinks Not the tourist beer-street pubs. This goes to places that have been serving Czech beer since before most buildings on your city map existed. Stories and drinks included. Lobkowicz Palace Classical Concert Chamber music in the private apartments of a palace inside Prague Castle — where the family’s original Beethoven manuscripts are still on display. One of the few tourist experiences that actually earns the word “special.” Vltava River Lunch Cruise — Open-Top Glass Boat Two hours on the river with commentary and food. The view of the Castle and Charles Bridge from the water is different to anything you get on land — Dan takes every group of visiting friends on this one. Hop-On Hop-Off Open Top Bus — Prague Not glamorous, but genuinely useful on day one: you see the full geography of the city before committing your feet. Most locals would never use this — but it’s a solid orientation tool for a first-time visitor. Prague Ghost Tour — Old Town Dark History The Old Town genuinely has centuries of dark stories that didn’t make it into the guidebook summaries. This tour covers them properly, street by street, at night. Prague Travel Tips for 2026 The things that trip people up — currency, connectivity, transport passes, and when to go. Public Transport Prague’s metro, tram and bus network covers almost everywhere you need. 24-hour pass is 120 CZK (€5). Full guide on what to buy and how to validate. Airport to City Centre Fixed-price transfer, shared shuttle, bus — all three work. Which makes sense depends on your hotel location, group size and time of arrival. Czech Republic uses the Czech Koruna, not euros. ATMs are widespread; avoid exchange booths near tourist sights — the rates are predatory. Budget roughly 1,000 CZK (€42) per person per day for meals, transport and entry fees. Prague has excellent mobile coverage. An eSIM from Airalo costs around €4 for Czech Republic data — cheaper and simpler than buying a local SIM at the airport. Best Time to Visit May–June and September are the sweet spots: warm, long days, manageable crowds. July–August is hot, crowded and expensive. December is beautiful if you’re there for the markets — February is quiet and underrated. Prague is a very safe city by European standards. Pickpocketing exists in the usual tourist areas (Charles Bridge, Old Town Square) — keep bags in front and don’t leave phones on café tables. Nothing else to worry about. Book before you land Transfer, eSIM and travel insurance — three things worth sorting in advance. Discover the Prague Most Visitors Never See
