Predicted Score
This past weekend, Florida A&M allowed 479 total yards to South Carolina State. They were gashed repeatedly on the ground and through the air by an opponent that plays in the MEAC.
Miami's offense will have a chance to score on each of its offensive possessions on Thursday. In Week 1, the Hurricanes had 42 points with over 20 minutes remaining in the game before taking their foot off the proverbial gas pedal late in the contest. Still, they managed 27 first downs and 549 total yards on the road against a Stanford defense that many pundits thought could take a step forward in 2026.
Miami was unstoppable against Stanford in their season opener, with Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney routinely connecting for big gains in the middle of the field. Mensah finished with 401 passing yards and 5 touchdowns. He only had 3 incompletions on 30 pass attempts. Toney was unguardable, getting open with ease against man-heavy looks from Stanford's defense.
The Hurricanes' offense looks like one of the best in the country. Mensah and Toney are both bona fide Heisman candidates who are likely to pad their stats in Miami's home opener against an inferior opponent. This game could get ugly.
Villanova is 5-2 ATS against FBS programs under head coach Mark Ferrante. Louisville is coming off a heartbreaking loss on a short week. I like Nova to cover +35.5 or better.
In Week 0, Virginia threw the ball just 11 times and ran it 57 times. I expect a similar approach against a Norfolk State team that likely won't score more than three points against a defense ranked in the Top 10 in havoc rate (25.5%). I have Virginia winning 48-0.
NC State had just 168 yards in Week 0, and CJ Bailey put up a 57.1% adjusted completion rate with two turnover-worthy plays. If Bailey is still sporadic, Richmond should be in position to cover +30.5 or better. The Spiders are 3-3 ATS in their last six against P4 teams under Russ Heusman.
Rutgers lost to UMass, but UMass' head coach, Joe Harasymiak, is a better coach than Bill O'Brien, and Pop Watson is a better QB than Mason McKenzie. McKenzie completed 51.4% of his passes, racking up three turnover-worthy plays, and averaging 3.26 seconds to throw in a Week 1 loss to Cincinnati. With KJ Duff and Antwan Raymond carrying the offensive load, Rutgers can keep this close.
Rutgers is looking to bounce back after an embarrassing Week 1 loss to UMass as a nearly 30-point favorite. Now, the Scarlet Knights head to Boston as 3.5-point underdogs against a Boston College team that also opened the season with a loss. The Eagles were 7.5-point underdogs against Cincinnati and struggled on both sides of the ball, turning the ball over and allowing more than 250 rushing yards. Rutgers has plenty of returning talent, including along the offensive line and at running back, where Antwan Raymond rushed for more than 1,200 yards last season. Week 1 was rock bottom. Rutgers has the opportunity to start climbing out Friday night.
This is just the second road start of Missouri QB Austin Simmons' career, and its in the most hostile environment as the Border War returns for a second straight year. Missouri also won't have All-American running back Ahmad Hardy, which should help Kansas cover a seveneth straight game at home as an underdog.
Missouri has only hit the first-half moneyline in four of its last 10 games. Second, Kansas has cashed its first-half moneyline in two of the past four games.
Army's offense ran for 569 rushing yards in Week 1 and was Top 10 in the country in offensive success rate (65.3%). Meanwhile, South Florida managed just over 200 yards against FIU. I like the Black Knights to cover up to -5.5.
I make Army a five-point favorite. South Florida had a very misleading Week 1 result where they were outgained by 173 yards but won the game by 10 thanks to some turnover luck. Army ran for an inane 569 yards in its Week 1 win, a 59-3 victory over the Bryant Bulldogs. This is a program that loves to run the football and I think they'll run right over South Florida on Saturday.
It was the smoothest of sailings in Matt Campbell's first game on the Penn State sideline, and Saturday's affair against Temple provides another opportunity to see what he has. Temple ran for more than 200 yards and only threw the ball 16 times for 142 yards in its 38-14 win over FCS Rhode Island, but Penn State held Marshall to just 1.7 yards per carry on 26 tries. I suspect another beatdown in favor of the Nittany Lions.
I think Oklahoma State can move the football even after scoring just 10 points last week in a game where they had well over 300 yards. Expect a fast tempo as both teams were well above average when it came to plays per minute last week. I thought Oregon should've won by more last week in a game where they had almost 500 yards. I think both offenses will be more efficient in this one.
Obviously, it’ll be tough for Oregon to cover the full-game spread (-23.5) if it doesn’t go up big early. Granted, Notre Dame was able to cover as -22 favorites vs. Wisconsin last week despite only leading by three points at halftime, but that’s an outlier.
Furthermore, the Ducks should be motivated to start fast after a slow start in Week 1, and they are on a business trip, which helps them get locked in quicker. Or at least that's my working theory.
I'm banking on Michigan looking completely different than it did last week. The only games Michigan has lost at home since 2021 were to teams ranked inside the top-10 of the AP Poll and Oklahoma is 11th.
We got two defensive-minded head coaches, Whittingham and Oklahoma's Brent Venables, with better defensive personnel. Oklahoma is 7-9 Over/Under (O/U) vs. ranked opponents since hiring Venables in 2022.
This is a rare instance where I'll say that the underdog is live. No one will go crazy about App State beating Maine last week, but let's give them some credit for winning by 52 as a 21-point favorite. The roster has had some nice additions while East Carolina looks like they might have trouble overcoming losses from last season including both coordinators.
Both of these teams have top G6 offenses, but only one has a somewhat competent defense. UTSA's ground game should run wild against a Texas State defense ranked 132nd by SP+. The Road Runners should only need a few defensive stops to pull off the upset.
The Rice Owls offense isn't exactly going to set the world on fire this season, but its running attack will use a lot of clock, even when the Owls fall behind early. And the Notre Dame Fighting Irish aren't playing with tempo, averaging 30.6 seconds per play against Wisconsin. I like the Under at totals of 54.5 or higher.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish saw their offense take a long time to get going against a weak Wisconsin Badgers defense, and they'll be playing on short rest on Saturday. None of this changes the outcome, but it will keep the margin down a bit, as the Irish will be happy to rotate players and let the clock run. I'm backing the Rice Owls to cover at +42.5 or more.
Arizona should be able to put points on the board thanks to its experience on offense. Quarterback Noah Fifita has been with the program since 2022, while Tre Spivey, Chris Hunter and Giovanni Richardson each bring more than two years of experience. That familiarity should help the Wildcats navigate a tough road matchup. BYU also enters the season with former special teams coach Kelly Poppinga taking over as defensive coordinator, making this his first true test in the role. Arizona should be able to take advantage of the new coordinator and reach 20 points Saturday.
If BYU leans heavily on the ground game, the clock should tick quickly from start to finish. Arizona’s defense is prepared for the run, which should help keep this conference matchup tight throughout.
With both teams likely relying on the ground game, I expect a slower-paced affair and a close finish. Expect a good old fashion rock fight.
UNLV has already covered plenty of ground to open the season, traveling to Hawaii last week before returning to the mainland for a matchup with North Texas. That travel could create a difficult spot for the Rebels, especially against a Mean Green team that showed plenty of fight against reigning national champion Indiana. Despite losing star quarterback Drew Mestemaker to Oklahoma State and undergoing a significant roster overhaul, North Texas still outgained the Hoosiers and averaged 5.5 yards per play in a 52-16 loss. After facing a strong Indiana team, North Texas should be better prepared for this matchup and can make this game competitive.
North Texas is a different team this season, and the spread undervalues that. The Mean Green are 132nd in returning production (32%) and will have their hands full with a UNLV run game that's one of the best in the G6. I'd consider UNLV to cover up to -6.5.
Boise State is coming off a tough loss to Oregon, while Memphis has ripped off two wins to start the year under Charles Huff. The Tigers are averaging 265 rushing yards per game and 23.5 pressures per game. Their trench play on both sides can keep this close against the Broncos - I like the Tigers at +8.5 or better.
Georgia Tech’s offense struggled to finish drives against Colorado, but Mendoza’s passing debut was encouraging.
He completed 74% of his passes for 237 yards, and he now faces a Tennessee defense that allowed 28.8 points per game last season. The Yellow Jackets should lean on Justice Haynes and their home-field advantage while using Mendoza’s mobility to extend drives. Tennessee can create pressure, but Georgia Tech has enough passing ability to reach the low 20s. The team-total Over is the better angle than relying on the Yellow Jackets to cover the full spread.
The Vols bring a strong offensive prior into this matchup.
They ranked No. 1 in the SEC in scoring last season, while Georgia Tech allowed 183 rushing yards to Colorado in Week 1. That gives DeSean Bishop a path to a productive night. The Yellow Jackets should contribute, too: Tennessee allowed 28.8 points per game last year and a 60% or better completion rate in 11 of 13 games. Alberto Mendoza completed 17 of 23 passes in his debut. A blended projection lands near 34-24, making the Over 55.5 appealing. I'd play to 56.5
FAU has one of the worst defenses in the G6 (131st by SP+ last year and allowed Florida to score points on 10 of 11 drives in Week 1). Navy's triple-option attack ran for 506 yards last week, and Braxton Woodson should have no trouble moving the ball against the Owls. I love Navy here, and think they win by double digits.
Iowa returns home for another edition of the Cy-Hawk rivalry, and the Hawkeyes have a great opportunity to finally take care of business against Iowa State. The Cyclones have won three of the last four meetings, but this is a different program after Matt Campbell’s departure for Penn State. Iowa, meanwhile, remains under longtime head coach Kirk Ferentz. With the rivalry meaning so much to both sides, expect the Hawkeyes to be locked in from the opening whistle. Iowa has already lost the last two meetings by a combined 4 points, but I’m backing the Hawkeyes to win by two touchdowns.
New Iowa State starting QB Jaylen Raynor was terrible against P4 opponents while at Arkansas State. In four games against P4 teams, Raynor accounted for 11 turnover-worthy plays and thew just one TD. Iowa's defense is one of the best (ranked 11th by SP+), but its offense leans heavily on the run game, which will help the Under.
Oregon State plays with tempo, has a quality starting quarterback (Braden Atkinson), and has an entirely new playbook that opposing defensive coordinators can't game plan around. That should lead to them scoring a bit at home against a TTU defense that lost David Bailey and Jacob Rodriguez.
Tempo figures to play a factor as Oregon State had the 19th-highest snaps per minute (2.5) in Week 1, and Texas Tech ranked 21st-fastest (2.44) a year ago and didn't change scheme or coordinator.
Ohio State heads to Austin for a rematch of last year's Week 1 matchup, when the Buckeyes defeated Texas 14-7 in Columbus. This time, Ohio State enters as the underdog, creating an appealing outright opportunity. Texas' offense should be much better than last year, but the Longhorns' defense showed some concerning signs against Texas State, allowing nearly 350 total yards. The Bobcats also had opportunities to score more than seven points. Ohio State defensive coordinator Matt Patricia did an excellent job preparing for Manning last season, and another strong game plan could give the Buckeyes an edge. Expect Ohio State to start fast and silence the home crowd.
Texas may not be the side to back outright, but taking the points requires believing in Arch Manning to deliver against Ohio State in a rematch of last season’s 14-7 loss. Manning threw for 170 yards with a touchdown and interception in that game, and while I am not fully sold on him, I am certainly not a hater. Texas has plenty of weapons around its young quarterback, but its defense is a concern after allowing nearly 350 yards to Texas State and giving up 8-of-14 third-down conversions. Meanwhile, Ohio State played at a faster tempo last week, which could create scoring opportunities.
This is the situational spot of the year to fade Ole Miss who just played on Sunday night in a game where they won on a field goal on the final play of the game. They have Lane Kiffin and LSU on deck next week which will be the biggest home game in the history of Ole Miss football. The proper motivation and rest isn't there to cover 47.5 points. It also helps that my power ratings like the play.
My power ratings make Charlotte a 44.5-point underdog here, and that does not account for the situation spot. Mississippi could be in one of the worst spots of the entire college football season. The Rebels just played a Sunday night thriller against Louisville that came down to the final play, and now they have one fewer day of rest before their next game. Oh, by the way, the Rebels have arguably the biggest home game in school history on deck as they host LSU and former head coach Lane Kiffin next Saturday night. While Charlotte lost outright to FCS The Citadel last week, the market tends to overreact to upset losses to FCS schools more than it does upsets to bad FBS schools. When you factor in my ratings discrepancy and the spot, Charlotte is a best bet.
New Mexico State is underrated offensively after improving at quarterback (Trey Hedden: 8.5 yards per attempt) and offensive line (25th in front seven havoc allowed). Running back James Jones and receiver TK King can both be stars in Conference USA, and they'll find the end zone against a poor-performing Hawaii defense (123rd in PFF's defensive grade).
Hawaii can't run or shoot offensively. The offensive line (127th in PFF's pass-blocking grade) and receiving unit (126th in receiving grade) are both a mess, which has led to quarterback Micah Alejado completing just 52.2% of his passes for 4.9 yards per attempt. I can't consider an Over with this team until things turn around, especially not unless I get a lower number. The market hasn't adjusted enough yet.
Former Mississippi head coach Lane Kiffin will take his new team, LSU, into Oxford. Considering the controversial way he left the Rebels prior to the playoffs last year, there might not be a more hostile environment in college football this season. It’s a game worthy of giving the home team more than three points of home-field advantage.

How to Use NCAAF Computer Picks
As human beings, we're bound to be biased with our picks and potentially fall into the trap of swinging with the public. With advanced stats growing in popularity and getting harder to track, college football computer predictions are starting to become more relied on.
Betting on a moneyline simply means you're picking the outright winner of the game, regardless of the scoring margin or total. If the team you choose wins, then your bet hits. Here's what it will look like over at your favorite sportsbook:
In this case, Alabama is favored to win the game as its moneyline odds have a minus sign (-) in front of the number. The favorites will have the minus sign present, and the underdogs will have a plus sign (+). Easy, right?
Betting the spread gives your bet a bit more breathing room. Here, you don't need to sweat out a team to win. Instead, you can wager on the point differential on the scoreboard.
Betting on the spread is a good idea when the moneyline profits aren't enticing. There's no point betting on Alabama as a heavy -1500 favorite over Missouri. But taking Missouri to keep the scoring margin within a certain frame will get you more bang for your buck.
In this example, the Tide are favored to dominate their game against Missouri, outperforming them by at least 24.5 points.
If Alabama does win by more than 25 points, that would mean the Crimson Tide covered the spread. But if the Tide won by just 20 points, then that would mean the Tigers "covered the spread" instead.
If you think the outcome of a game could flip in either direction, then an Over/Under is the way to go. This bet relies on the combined score from both teams and whether it goes Over or Under the point total listed at sportsbooks. Then, who cares who wins?
In this example, oddsmakers have set the total score for the game at 52.5 points. The choice is now up to you. If you think the Tide and Tigers will score a combined total of more than 52.5 points, 53 points or more, then pick the Over. If you're thinking otherwise, then bet the Under, and the bet will hit if they score fewer than 52.5 points.
If the set number was a whole number like 52 points and the two teams score exactly that amount, then it is considered a push and you'd get your money back.
