At Pickswise, we publish College Football Picks Today across the entire slate, giving you an immediate blueprint for every meaningful matchup from Thursday night openers through the final West Coast kickoff on Saturday. Our college football expert picks combine deep statistical modeling with injury updates and situational context to cut through the noise and highlight genuine betting value, rather than just recycling the week's biggest storylines. Whether you're comparing NCAA football picks across a single ranked showdown or scanning the entire card for the best college football picks available that week, this page is built to keep you sharp all season, from Week 0 through the College Football Playoff National Championship. Miami possesses an overwhelming talent advantage, but 56.5 points requires almost complete domination. Even one Florida A&M field goal forces the Hurricanes toward 60 points to cover. With Miami on a 6-day turnaround and ACC play looming, this is an ideal situation to grab the enormous number with the Rattlers. Villanova has scored 14, 20 and 6 in its last three trips to FBS teams and needed a one-point escape at Bucknell last week. Louisville hung 38 on Ole Miss and comes home angry. Virginia executed an excellent game in Week-0 beating NC State by 26 points. NC State was a preseason ACC top-tier hopeful, and the Cavaliers scored 34 points on their defense. Norfolk State is an FCS team who will also be facing UVA on the road and will do so with arguably less talent and expectations. I see Virginia being able to score a ton of points and the line of 54.5 not being high enough. NC State struggled offensively in its Week 1 loss to Virginia, but its strong offensive numbers from 2025 and experience with offensive coordinator Kurt Roper suggest the Wolfpack can bounce back in Week 2. With CJ Bailey returning as the starter and Richmond being an FCS opponent, NC State has the opportunity to display it's offensive capabilities on their home field. Rutgers' shocking loss to UMass has demolished the Scarlet Knights' market value, creating an immediate buy-low opportunity. Had Rutgers handled the Minutemen as expected, it's difficult to envision Boston College being favored here. One disastrous performance shouldn't create this dramatic an adjustment. But it has. Back Rutgers to respond and win outright. Kansas has a lot of questions at QB and offensive line, and they could find themselves struggling against Missouri. Mizzou should be the better team here, even if a rivalry game on the road is holding down the number. Neither team has a need to push the tempo or force big plays downfield with inexperienced arms under center. The Duke offense is set up to thrive on possession-based football, while the defense should give the Illinois young core fits. I see the Eagles struggling to score points and their defense fighting even harder to keep Michigan State out of the end zone. Sparty should prove to be too fast and too strong for the Eagles here. UConn's 671-yard opener demonstrated that the Huskies possess enough offensive firepower to threaten Maryland outright. Kalieb Osborne provides a dangerous dual-threat element, while UConn gets an additional defensive boost up front. The +360 money line is tempting, but with legitimate upset potential, taking 12.5 points is the more prudent play. BYU might have the best defense in the league. Arizona forced a ton of turnovers last year, and with a thin group of receivers for BYU, there is a chance they become too one-dimensional on offense. This game could turn into a grind. Notre Dame could eclipse this game total themselves. However, they may get a little help from their opponents, the Owls. Both teams have already proven they can score effectively. Alabama's defense ranked sixth in preseason SP+, and the Crimson Tide went under in nine of 15 games last season. Kentucky counters with a first-year head coach and a quarterback making his second collegiate start. The clock does the rest. Minnesota returns 71 percent of an offense that finished 129th in the country and covered only two of seven home games last season. Mississippi State brings the second-fastest tempo in the sport and a quarterback off a 762-yard team performance. UCF has an improved team, but breaking in a new QB and new O-line could take a couple weeks. You can't really have any letdown with the offensive assault of Pitt on the other side, which is one of the most potent aerial attacks in the nation. Pitt should win and cover here. The UNT offense struggled to finish drives despite gaining decent yardage in a Week 1 loss to Indiana. I wouldn’t be surprised if that continued against the Rebels, given the bevy of newcomers in key roles and the havoc the UNLV defense created in Week 1, posting five sacks, seven TFL and one INT. Memphis sits 2-0 after beating their two opponents by a combined 24 points. Boise State is 0-1 after falling to Oregon, but they got to within a touchdown and scored 27 points on the #2 team in the nation. SP+ has this closer to eleven points on a neutral field and this is not neutral. Brent Key's Georgia Tech is 6-1 against the spread at home against ranked teams, covering both losses to Georgia. Take the points. The fact that Nebraska was able to rack up over 500 yards of offense and 49 points after a very underwhelming showing in the first half bodes well for the Cornhuskers this week against a Bowling Green defense that just allowed allowed 8.1 yards per play to Tarleton State. I don't expect that Matt Rhule takes his foot off the gas in this one. The Midshipmen gained 503 yards in that contest, 397 of which came on the ground to the tune of 7.1 yards per carry. However, the biggest thing to note is that quarterback Blake Horvath, running backs Alex Tecza and Eli Heidenreich and wide receiver Brandon Chatman are no longer on the team this year – which is essentially all the production from Navy’s win in 2025. FAU can’t relate, as the Owls have the most continuity among the Group of Six ranks. Texas Tech held eight of 13 opponents to 13 points or fewer last season and allowed 11.8 per game. Oregon State averaged 18.2 last season, ran for 26 yards at Houston and has lost its tight end for the year. The Longhorns and the Buckeyes are both top-10 in returning offensive production while simultaneously bringing back Heisman-candidate quarterbacks surrounded by elite play-makers with NFL careers looming. They also are two teams with some defensive question marks, specifically in the secondary. Iowa State's transfer QB Jaylen Raynor will get his first taste of P4 competition after completing only 8 of 16 passes against SEMO. IN four career games against P4 opponents, he has 1 TD and 6 INT. Ole Miss showed they are still a top team in college football this season with their win over Louisville last week, but they now get an overmatched Charlotte squad before taking on their former head coach, Lane Kiffin, and LSU in Week 3. The Rebels may not be engaged for the full game in this one. I have my questions about Utah’s defense, but I have more questions about Arkansas’ team as a whole. The Razorbacks did not pass the eye test in Week 1, while Utah looked more than prepared for their season ahead. Fresno Statewas dominated by USC last week, but they should still be the far better team here. The Bulldogs are big and physical in both trenches, and they ought to control this game and impose their will. Sacramento State is largely built on tempo, gimmicks and confusion, but that shouldn't matter when they are physically outmatched. Historically, USC has dominated inferior Group of Six competition in the nonconference portion of the season. Look for the Trojans to hang a big number on a Louisiana team that did not have an encouraging showing in Week 1. Virginia Tech doesn’t exactly have continuity, but the skill gap should be noticeable, as ODU’s shortcomings are likely to be evident on both sides of the ball. The Monarchs lost eight of the 10 pieces that recorded at least two sacks last year per Sports-Reference, including leader Jeremy Mack and edge Kris Trinidad. The Monarchs also lost their starting quarterback to Wisconsin. For my money, Oklahoma has one of the best defenses in the country, no matter where they play. Seven of the Sooners’ top 10 defenders in snap count returned from last year’s top-10 unit that held the Wolverines to 288 yards and 13 points in Norman, including two of their three leaders in sacks and three of their top six tacklers, so how can you trust Michigan to move the ball in this game after they only gained 276 yards and converted three of 10 third downs against Western Michigan? Despite last week beatdown against Alabama, East Carolina will be at home for a bounce back spot against App State. East Carolina's duo of quarterbacks, Mitch Griffis and Emory Williams, bring a dynamic look to the Pirates offense. They will get the chance to find a win against one of the least-experienced FBS teams in College Football. Both teams are under new head coaches, and questions will abound through the first few weeks. Washington State played well on defense last week against rival Washington, but their offense was a mess. Until they straighten some things out on that side of the ball, it does not seem like they can push the score enough to take us over this total. The over/under line has moved roughly one touchdown since opening despite the over receiving roughly 70% of public bets at the time of publishing. I’m following the reverse line movement and taking the under. Arizona State's 70-point opener may create a buzz, but traveling to Kyle Field represents an enormous escalation in competition. Texas A&M opened with a 50-0 shutout, returns Marcel Reed and possesses significant advantages physically and defensively. With the Aggies available at even money at this number, I'm comfortable laying 14.5 points in what appears to be a gross mismatch. After winning the National Championship and not losing a game since 2024, Curt Cignetti and Hoosiers are still getting looked over as the best team in College Football. They have a prime example on their home field this weekend against an FCS school, Howard, to show their talent matches the level of last season. After winning the National Championship, Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers may still be looked over as the best team in college football. Look for them to prove otherwise against an overmatched FCS opponent. Wake Forest was very sloppy in its victory over Akron a week ago, while Purdue showed promise of an improved passing game and an offense that should take a step forward this season. The Boilermakers should be able to turn this into a grinder of a game at home, so getting more than a field goal is a bit too much in this spot. Oregon survived a scare against Boise State, while Oklahoma State's outright loss to Tulsa destroyed the Cowboys' credibility before the season started. Now the Ducks must visit a hostile Boone Pickens Stadium laying more than three touchdowns. With Oklahoma State embarrassed and positioned to respond at home, this represents an appealing buy-low opportunity with trouble potential for Oregon. After three quarters of play against Marshall and a 38-0 lead, Rocco Becht left the game after completing 72.22% of his passes for 271 yards and four touchdowns. From my point of view, there’s a lot of talent on Penn State’s roster, and it's likely too much for Temple to handle. Western Kentucky should be able to prove they are tougher competition than Tennessee State for Georgia. The Bulldogs are extremely deep this season, but their sights are set elsewhere. We should see head coach Kirby Smart play his reserves a good bit once earning a large enough lead before the Bulldogs enter SEC play. How To Get The Best College Football Picks Tonight Finding the best college football picks tonight comes down as much to timing as to analysis. Line movement in college football can be sharp and sudden, particularly once a starting quarterback's status is confirmed or a late weather report changes how a coaching staff is expected to approach the game plan, so checking back as close to kickoff as possible often reveals the sharpest version of the number. It also helps to think about which games actually deserve your attention on a given night. A loaded Saturday slate might feature a dozen or more games worth watching, but not every one of them offers real value. Our team prioritizes the matchups where the gap between our internal projection and the posted line is wide enough to matter, rather than spreading attention evenly across every kickoff on the schedule. That same prioritized approach carries through our college football betting picks today and into our broader college football picks this week coverage, so the reasoning stays consistent whether you're planning a full weekend out or looking for a single play a few hours before kickoff. For fully analyzed college football betting picks tonight, built on exactly that kind of prioritized research, our college football expert picks tonight are updated continuously as the slate develops throughout the evening. Understanding the Different Ways To Bet on Our Free College Football Picks College football offers bettors a genuinely deep menu of markets, and knowing how each one works is what allows you to find value beyond just picking the team you think will win. The point spread is the most straightforward starting point, requiring a favorite to win by more than a set margin while giving the underdog credit for staying within it. If Georgia is favored by 3.5 points over Alabama, Georgia needs to win by 4 or more to cover, while the Tide covers by either winning outright or losing by 3 points or fewer. The money line strips that margin away entirely, asking only which team wins outright, which is useful for bettors who want to back an underdog without needing that team to actually pull off the upset by any specific margin, since even a one-point win settles the bet. The total, or Over/Under, asks bettors to project the combined final score of both teams rather than picking a side at all; if oddsmakers set a total at 58.5 in a high-scoring Big 12 shootout, a bettor on the Over needs both teams to combine for 59 points or more, while the Under needs that combined score to land at 58 or fewer. Beyond those three core markets, prop bets let you zero in on individual performances such as a quarterback's passing yardage, a running back's rushing touchdowns or which team scores first. Parlays combine multiple individual bets onto a single ticket for a larger payout, with every leg needing to hit for the ticket to cash. NCAAF Futures bets , meanwhile, are locked in well ahead of the outcome, most commonly on markets like the National Championship winner, conference winners or the Heisman Trophy race, and they tend to offer some of the largest potential payouts on the board given how far in advance they're settled. What is a College Football Consensus Pick? A college football consensus pick represents the side of a game, the spread, the total, or the money line that's drawing the majority of public betting support or agreement among handicappers. In simple terms, it tells you where the collective crowd, or a group of professional analysts, is putting its confidence for a specific matchup. Here's a practical example: imagine Michigan is playing Ohio State with the spread set at Michigan +3.5. If 75% of individual bets placed on that game are backing Michigan to cover, Michigan becomes the consensus pick for that matchup, regardless of what our own handicappers might actually think about the game. Tracking these trends at Pickswise gives you a fast way to gauge public sentiment before you ever place a bet. Check out our free college football consensus picks to see which side the majority of bettors are backing each week, and use that information to decide whether you want to ride with the crowd or look for value by fading it. College Football Picks Against The Spread Betting against the spread remains the single most popular way to wager on college football, and it's not hard to see why. With such a massive gap in talent between the sport's biggest programs and its smaller conference teams, a straight money line bet on a marquee matchup often offers little value on the favorite, but the spread levels that same game into a genuinely competitive betting proposition. Consider a game between a top program and an unranked non-conference opponent, where the money line favorite might be priced at -900 or worse, offering almost no return for the risk involved. The spread on that same game, set at something like -24.5, turns a lopsided mismatch on paper into an actual decision for the bettor: does the favorite's offense keep its foot on the gas deep into the fourth quarter, or does the coaching staff pull back once the outcome is no longer in question? That built-in uncertainty, even in games that look completely one-sided at kickoff, is exactly what makes college football picks against the spread the sport's most popular and most attractive market. It's also why our free college football picks against the spread lean on situational context such as garbage-time tendencies, backup quarterback usage and coaching philosophy in blowouts rather than relying purely on college football computer picks that treat every lopsided score the same way regardless of the circumstances behind it. Why Trust Pickswise College Football Expert Picks? Plenty of sites will hand you a pick without ever explaining the reasoning behind it. Our college football expert picks are different, built on genuine analytical depth rather than name recognition or last week's headlines. That depth starts with the numbers. Advanced metrics like success rate, Expected Points Added, and trench-level matchup data all factor into how our team arrives at a recommendation, rather than a gut feeling about which program "looks" better on paper. We also believe in complete transparency, tracking our results openly so you can see our actual track record rather than taking a claim of expertise on faith. That honesty is paired with genuinely comprehensive coverage spanning the entire sport, from Power 4 marquee matchups to Group of 6 Friday night games most national outlets skip entirely. What ultimately sets us apart, though, is specialization. With well over 130 FBS programs to track, our handicappers are dedicated college football specialists rather than generalists splitting attention across five different sports, and that focus shows in how deeply we understand scheme matchups, depth charts and regional conference nuances across the entire FBS landscape. How to Use Pickswise Confidence Star Ratings for Free College Football Picks Today We rank every pick on this page using a simple one-to-five star scale, so you can quickly gauge how strongly our team believes in a play and size your wager accordingly. A 5-Star Pick is the rarest designation we hand out and is reserved for those select matchups where the underlying data and our team's football-specific read on the game line up almost perfectly, pointing to a spot where we think the sportsbooks have gotten the number genuinely wrong. A 4-Star Pick still represents one of our stronger plays on a given slate, built on a well-supported edge that's just a notch below our absolute highest level of conviction. A 3-Star Pick is where you'll find the bulk of our steady, dependable plays. These are backed by clear trends and solid statistical footing, not a guaranteed winner, but a game our team is comfortable recommending at a normal stake. A 2-Star Pick reflects a genuine angle we've identified, just a narrower one, so we'd suggest sizing that wager down a bit given the thinner margin for error. A 1-Star Pick sits at the more speculative end of our board. These are leans that our team likes directionally, but one we'd pair with a smaller, more cautious stake given the extra uncertainty involved. NCAAF Calendar 2026-2027 - Key Dates College football runs on a tightly structured annual calendar , anchored by Week 0 in late August and wrapping up with the College Football Playoff National Championship in late January. Beyond the in-season calendar, a handful of offseason milestones are worth tracking too, since they shape rosters well before Week 0 arrives. Early National Signing Day in early December remains the primary period for high school recruits to officially sign with a program. The transfer portal window opens from January 2 to January 16, giving athletes a 15-day window to enter and secure a new destination. This timing has been scrutinized because it coincides with the College Football Playoff, so it remains to be seen whether they'll change this date. Conference media days follow in mid-to-late July, with coaches and star players addressing the media ahead of fall training camps opening in early August.
