1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Mapzo ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
2. Service Description
Mapzo is a real-time event discovery platform that allows users to:
Discover events through map-based and list-based interfaces
Host and upload event information
Share event experiences through photos, videos, and descriptions
Receive personalized event notifications based on location and preferences
3. Location Services & Privacy
3.1 Location Data Collection
When you use Mapzo, we collect and process your location data in the following ways:
When you enable location services, we access your device GPS to show nearby events
Your real-time location is used to calculate distance to events and filter results
Location data is processed locally and on our servers to provide personalized recommendations
Manual Location:
You may manually enter your city, district, or village instead of enabling GPS
We use Google Map's Nominatim API to geocode your manually entered location
3.2 How We Use Location Data
Event Discovery: Show events within your selected distance radius
Notifications: Send alerts for events matching your distance-based notification rules
Analytics: Aggregate anonymized location patterns to improve event recommendations
3.3 Location Data Retention
Your current location is stored in browser localStorage and updated when you change it
Historical location data is not permanently stored unless you create an account
You may clear your location data at any time through browser settings or app permissions
3.4 Third-Party Location Services
We use Google Map Nominatim API for:
Reverse geocoding (converting GPS coordinates to place names)
Location search and autocomplete
Google Map's privacy policy applies to data shared with their services
3.5 Your Location Rights
You have the right to:
Deny location access: Use Mapzo with manual location entry only
Revoke permissions: Disable location services at any time in browser/device settings
Delete location data: Clear localStorage or delete your account to remove all location history
4. User-Generated Content
4.1 Event Hosting & Uploads
When you host an event or upload content (photos, videos, descriptions), you agree that:
You own or have rights to the content you upload
Your content does not violate copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
Your content does not contain illegal, harmful, or misleading information
Mapzo may use your content to promote events and improve the platform
4.2 Event Information Accuracy
Event hosts must provide accurate information (date, time, location, description)
False or misleading event information may result in content removal or account suspension
Mapzo is not responsible for inaccurate user-submitted event details
4.3 Community Standards
Uploads are subject to community moderation
Mapzo reserves the right to remove content that violates these Terms
Users may report inappropriate content through the platform
5. Notifications
5.1 Notification Types
Mapzo sends notifications for:
Events matching your distance and interest filters
Event updates from hosts
Platform announcements
5.2 Customization
You control notification settings through:
Distance-based rules (e.g., "notify me of all events within 300m")
Interest filters (music genres, event types, activities)
Crowd size thresholds
Time of day preferences
You may disable notifications at any time through:
Browser notification settings
Mapzo app Settings → Notifications
Unsubscribing from email notifications
6. Data Collection & Usage
6.1 Information We Collect
Location data: GPS coordinates, manually entered locations
Event data: Events you host, attend, or interact with
Upload data: Photos, videos, descriptions, comments you submit
Device data: Browser type, IP address, device identifiers
Usage data: Features accessed, search queries, filter preferences
6.2 How We Use Your Data
Provide personalized event recommendations
Improve platform features and user experience
Detect spam, fraud, and policy violations
Send notifications and platform updates
6.3 Data Sharing
We do NOT sell your personal data. We may share data with:
Third-party services: Google Map (location), Firebase (storage), analytics providers
Law enforcement: If required by legal process or to prevent harm
Aggregated data: Anonymized usage statistics for research or business purposes
6.4 Data Retention
Active accounts: Data retained while your account exists
Deleted accounts: Personal data deleted within 30 days; anonymized data may remain
localStorage: Browser-stored data persists until you clear it manually
7. Intellectual Property
The Mapzo platform, technology, and proprietary features are owned by Mapzo
You may not reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute Mapzo's technology
7.2 Your Content License
By uploading content, you grant Mapzo a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license to:
Display your content on the platform
Use your content for marketing and promotional purposes
Sublicense your content to trusted partners (with attribution)
You retain ownership of your original content
8. Prohibited Conduct
Upload false, misleading, or spam event information
Impersonate others or create fake accounts
Violate intellectual property rights (copyright, trademark, etc.)
Upload illegal, harmful, or sexually explicit content
Use automated bots or scrapers without permission
Interfere with platform security or infrastructure
Violations may result in:
Content removal
Account suspension or termination
Legal action if applicable
9.1 Service Availability
Mapzo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
We may suspend the Service for maintenance or updates
9.2 Event Accuracy
Mapzo relies on user-generated data and cannot verify all event details
Attend events at your own risk; verify information independently
Mapzo is not liable for cancelled, misrepresented, or unsafe events
9.3 Third-Party Content
Event hosts and uploaders are solely responsible for their content
Mapzo does not endorse user-generated content or external links
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
Mapzo is NOT liable for damages arising from Service use (lost profits, data loss, personal injury, etc.)
Our total liability is limited to ₹1,000 (one thousand Indian rupees) or the amount you paid (if any)
We are not responsible for third-party services (Google Map, Firebase, etc.)
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Mapzo harmless from claims arising from:
Your violation of these Terms
Your uploaded content (copyright infringement, defamation, etc.)
Your misuse of the Service
12. Termination
You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Account → Delete Account.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
Violate these Terms
Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
12.3 Effect of Termination
Your access to the Service will be revoked
Your personal data will be deleted (anonymized data may remain)
Outstanding obligations (indemnification, disclaimers) survive termination
13. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India
Disputes will be resolved in the courts of West Bengal, India
You agree to arbitration before litigation (if required)
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting. Continued use of Mapzo constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.

When you access Mapzo, we automatically collect:
Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device model, unique device identifiers
Usage Data: Pages viewed, features accessed, search queries, clicks, time spent on pages
IP Address: Your Internet Protocol address for security and analytics
Cookies & Local Storage: Browser cookies and localStorage data (see Cookie Policy)
Referral Information: The website or link that referred you to Mapzo
2.4 Third-Party Information
We may receive information from third-party services:
Google Map: Geographic data from their Nominatim API

Analytics Providers: Aggregated usage statistics

Display events near your location based on distance filters

Content you upload to Event Boxes (photos, videos, descriptions, comments)
Your display name and profile picture (if set)
4.2 Third-Party Service Providers
We share data with trusted service providers who help us operate Mapzo:
Google Map (Nominatim): Location geocoding and reverse geocoding
Cloud Storage (Firebase/AWS): Data storage and hosting (when implemented)
Analytics Providers: Anonymized usage statistics for performance monitoring
Email Services: Transactional emails and notifications (when implemented)
These providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for specified purposes.
4.3 Legal Requirements

5.1 Active Accounts
We retain your data while your account is active
Location data in localStorage persists until you clear it manually
Events you host remain visible until you delete them
5.2 Deleted Accounts
Personal data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion
Anonymized data may be retained for analytics and research
Publicly posted content (events, uploads) may remain anonymized
Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days
5.3 Legal Retention
We may retain data longer if required by law, to resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
6. Your Privacy Rights
6.1 Access & Portability
You can access your personal data through your account settings
You may request a copy of your data in a portable format (contact us at mapzo.legal@gmail.com)
6.2 Correction & Updates
Update your profile information, email, and preferences anytime in Settings
Edit or delete events and uploads you created
Delete your account through Settings → Account → Delete Account
Request deletion of specific data by contacting mapzo.legal@gmail.com
Clear localStorage data through your browser settings
6.4 Opt-Out of Communications
Disable notifications in Settings → Notifications
Unsubscribe from emails via the link in each email
Disable browser notifications in your browser settings
6.5 Location Privacy
Deny location access and use manual location entry instead
Revoke location permissions in browser/device settings anytime
Clear stored location data through localStorage
6.6 Do Not Track
Mapzo does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, but you can control tracking through browser settings and extensions.
7. Data Security
7.1 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
HTTPS encryption for data in transit
Secure authentication and password hashing (when accounts are implemented)
Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
Access controls limiting who can view your data
Monitoring for suspicious activity and unauthorized access

7.3 No Guarantee

Mapzo is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, contact us at mapzo.legal@gmail.com, and we will delete it.
