Our Four Pillars of Sustainability Get a glimpse of how we are consciously reducing our carbon footprint by investing in real structural changes and taking small consistent steps in our daily operations. From our expansive array of solar panels and smart buildings to our zero-waste solutions and responsible food practices, our initiatives are aligned with Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to set the gold standard for sustainability within the industry. Sustainability Framework Sustainability Reports Harvesting The Sun We currently operate an 11.53 MWp onsite solar system featuring close to 20,000 panels, generating clean, renewable energy. A Solar-Powered Venue Our solar panels harvest the sun’s energy to power our operations, including 20 EV chargers at our venue. With the ability to generate 14.26 GWh annually, our system enables us to reduce 5,700 metric tons of carbon dioxide yearly. To determine the energy consumption of your event, you may request a carbon footprint report. Strategic Design & Features As Singapore’s first and largest BCA Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy certified MICE venue, and a holder of the highest tier of the SACEOS MICE Sustainability Certification (Platinum), our venue is designed with sustainable features and smart technologies that help reduce water and energy consumption. Energy-Efficient Features These include smart sensors that adjust lighting and room temperature based on traffic flow and natural light, and highly efficient and scalable HVAC cooling plants. We have also implemented hybrid cooling technologies specifically for Halls 3 to 6. Our buildings are also designed to reduce reliance on artificial lighting, with strategically placed skylights and large windows for ample natural light. We also provide electric alternatives for equipment, digitalisation of work processes and SG Green Label cleaning products, enabling your event to achieve a lower carbon footprint without compromising on quality or comfort. From Trash To Treasure Our robust recycling programme emphasises reusing, reducing and recycling waste at every opportunity. Our powerful food digester processes 365 tonnes of food waste a year, converting it into greywater safe for public sewage. We can collect, weigh and transfer your event’s waste to our food digester and provide you with a post-event waste report. We also offer water dispensers in common areas to encourage reusable bottles and adopt digital screens instead of physical advertising and marketing materials to reduce waste. From our onsite waste separation and sorting centre to clear labels on recycling bins, we make zero-waste easy for everyone. To minimise single-use plastics, all our F&B, including bentos and catering, come in eco-friendly packaging whenever possible. To ensure your food comes from sustainable sources, we have herb gardens within our buildings – see if you can taste our freshly plucked herbs in your meals! Sustainably Fresh Food Sustainability is also brought to life at our Rooftop Urban Farm @ EXPO, developed in partnership with BlueAcres. Located atop Singapore EXPO, it’s home to over 100 varieties of fresh produce and other species, grown using hydroponics, aquaponics, and other smart innovations. Visitors can go on a tour to explore themed zones, plant their own seeds, harvest fresh greens to take home, and engage in hands-on activities. Track Your Carbon Emissions With Our GHG Accounting Platform At Singapore EXPO, we are committed to driving sustainability across the MICE ecosystem and we recognise the importance of being aware and calculating greenhouse gas emissions accounting for your organisation. We have partnered with ESGpedia, a cutting-edge GHG accounting tool, to give access to our clients and supply chain a complimentary and seamless tool to measure and track Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions.
